Mineral specimens of any type are rare and azurite is EXTREMELY RARE (not listed by MINDAT) from this long extinct precious metal-polymetallic South Dakota mine. Lustrous, azure-blue blades, to 9 mm, richly and aesthetically fill an impressive elongated 8.5 cm deep tapered vug. The striking large sculptural matrix is mottled layered silficified Cambrian-age Deadwood Limestone. The Richmond-Sitting Bull Mine was intermittently worked from 1876 until 1922 (MINDAT). Locality information from South Dakota expert and mineralogist, Dr. Tom Campbell. Undoubtedly old-time material, but no proof. Ex H. de Linde Collection. VERY RARE large and rich South Dakota azurite. value??? never seen another
