Item Description

When people think of Azurite from the United States, most of them will immediately conjure up images of material from the various localities in Arizona. You don't see a lot of Azurite from California on the market though. This piece from what I can tell is from an isolated discovery, and features attractive rich blue to medium blue colored Azurite along with minor green Malachite on oxidized matrix. If you collect secondary ore minerals , California minerals or worldwide copper species, do NOT miss out on this chance to get your hands on an attractive specimen from this obscure locality in the New York Mountains of California (northeastern San Bernardino County). From the collection of Robert (Bob) Reynolds. Bob was a well-known fossil and mineral expert and former Curator of Earth Sciences at the San Bernardino County Museum in California. The rare phyllomanganate-chromate species Reynoldsite was named in his honor in 2011.
