Azurite (rare locality)

Item Description

The well-known Schmitt dolomite quarry has produced what are considered some of the best German Azurites. This quality, highly-representative miniature shows exactly why this is the case. The 1 cm Azurite rosette has the kind of rich, vibrant, blue color that you wish every Azurite had, and it rests on a matrix of Dolomite crystals. The aesthetics are choice, with the contrast in both color and form being very appealing. The quarry was closed in 1999. Kay acquired this miniature in 1972, and it was #6649 in her collection.
