Azurite partially pseudomorphing to Malachite on Bayldonite (ex Rich Kosnar Collection)

Here we have a fantastic fine quality, old-time Azurite specimen from the upper oxidation zone at Tsumeb. This beautiful two-sided, cabinet sized display piece features scintillating, razor-sharp, lustrous, striated, superb quality, gemmy, deep navy blue colored Azurite crystals measuring up to 1.2 cm long which are richly and attractively scattered on both sides of the brilliant green Bayldonite matrix. Chatoyant Malachite pseudomorphs after sharp Azurite crystals can be seen here and there, but the majority of the Azurites are un-pseudomorphed. I found some small white almost "jackstraw"-esque crystals of Cerussite in a narrow vug on one of the edges of the specimen for a nice touch. Specimens of this combination quality and richness are rare on the market, and with the price of good Tsumeb pieces increasingly almost daily it seems, this is a significant and important piece of this historic material with a rare combination / association. The piece is priced in the inventory at $3,000 for the size, quality and overall desirability of the material. This piece is from the collection of the well-known mineral dealer and collector Richard Kosnar (1946-2007) from Colorado, who was the namesake for the phosphate species, Kosnarite.
