Item Description
An aesthetic and rare, ball-like cluster of intergrown, bladed rosettes of highly lustrous, azure-blue azurite crystals set on a bit of matrix from the well-known finds at the Blue Grotto Mine, La Sal, Utah. Matrix azurite specimens are very uncommon from La Sal, as the balls are nearly always matrix-free. Complete all-around and very nearly pristine, with only super-trivial peripherywear on the backside. For the quality, and rarity of a cluster like this, I feel that this is valued at $500 today. Matrix specimens, and so balanced in size, are very uncommon from here! The crystals glow with "electric-blue" color under strong light.
