Azurite on Malachite (significant old classic) ex Harvard Museum

Rich, outstanding, well-balanced and rare 2-generation azurite on malachite from the famous Junction shaft at Bisbee. Lustrous, sharp, blocky navy-blue azurite crystals are atttractively clustered on the malachite matrix and nicely complemented by underlying crusts of royal-blue azurite. The halo of crystals at one end is a super accent! The Junction shaft was one of the major ore producers in the district, but fine mineral specimens are rare. Undoubtedly older material (pre-1950), but no proof by an old label. Ex Harvard Museum and Bob Whitmore Collections (noted on his label, and he was a well known east coast collector). We have seen Bisbee azurites of this quality priced at $5000 or more at major shows, but honestly it is MUCH better in person and quite distinct in style, so we rank this aabove much of the more common material from Bisbee of which there was actually quite a bit. Much more three-dimensional, in person.
