Item Description

Small beautiful, rich royal blue color "rosettes" of Azurite sitting atop a layer of green Malachite on matrix from the classic locality at Morenci. This area has produced some of the most attractive Azurite and Malachite combinations from any locality in the world. Obviously, Bisbee is the premier Arizona locality for Azurite and Malachite association speciens, but Morenci produced some really eye-catching specimens over the years. This attractive display specimen features "rosettes" up to 1-2 mm, and for the most part, the piece is in great shape. "Rosettes" of Azurite on matrix from Morenci are not terribly common, and certainly are worth picking up in this market. This piece comes from the collection of Willard W. Wulff (1904-1998) of Colorado Springs, Colorado, a prominent figure and collector of Colorado minerals. Wulff was one of the founding members of the Colorado Springs Mineralogical Society in 1936. You can read Willard's bio on the Mineralogical Record website here ( http://www.minrec.org/labels.asp?colid=1528 ). The specimen come with a hand-written labels on the bottom of "Perky" box.
