Item Description
Dramatic and colorful pretty soft azurite-blue layered azurite nodules look like surreal mushroom caps from Alice in Wonderland or exotic blue Cambrian Period (541 to 485 MYA) algal mounds! An amazing and sculptural azurite and malachite plate from near this extinct New Mexico open pit copper mine. The nodules rest on a thin crust of malachite on the sandstone matrix plate. A showy and very fine combination example of the species and locale. These came out about 10 years and there weren't that many. The piece has multiple fine display views. Unusually 3-dimensional!
