Item Description

An old-time and showy intergrown cluster of lustrous, deep blue, bladed azurite rosettes from the famous Type Locality - Chessy. This is solid, substantial azurite with only a bit of iron oxide coating. The two primary rosettes are classic Chessy. The ancient Chessy mines were closed by the end of the 19th century and this is an excellent example of a classic form and species. Ex Robert Whitmore Collection. Large clusters like this are uncommon. It has some residual attached matrix. Valued $750
