Item Description
A significant and important old-time azurite from the historic Type Locality. Intergrown rosettes of navy-blue azurite blades form an impressive large mounded sculptural "ball" from ancient Chessy. Specimens of this size and quality are uncommon and are highly desirable. Complete all-around and in great shape, overall. Three modest areas of periphery wear are noted and the attachment is on the base. The ancient Chessy mines were closed by 1875 and this is an outstanding large, 360-degree example of a classic form and species. It has a fine provenance, having been in the Dick Bideaux and Jaime Bird Collections. Valued at $2000.or more! I hav eseen similar for sale in Europe at the same numbers, in Euros.
