Item Description
This piece came labeled as simply "South Ural, Russia", and it could certainly be from the Imeni XIX Parts'ezda deposit, but we're going to leave it as Southern Urals for now. If anybody has seen a similar piece of this material and can confirm a more specific locality, please let us know. The piece fooled me at first as I thought it could be from Arizona, but the label shows it came from the other side of the world. Dozens of beautiful blue color, velvety, semi-spherical aggregates and blades of Azurite are sprinkled all over the underlying oxidized matrix. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#12554). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record). A hard to find specimen of this classic secondary ore material from the Ural Mountains.
