Item Description

A showy, large, rich and unusual azurite and malachite specimen, probably from the famous Czar Shaft. The outside of the sturdy curved crust is covered with sparkly rosettes of azure-blue, bladed azurite. These crystals have electric-blue color under bright light. Primary malachite reigns on the back in the form of lustrous, bladed crystals to nubby, matte-finish crystals. Lustrous, brown, botryoidal to layered goethite is a nice compliment to the malachite. Classic, old-time, unusual and rich combination material from this renowned locale. Ex Dartmouth College Collection.
