Azurite and Malachite, secondary copper minerals, are VERY RARE from any of the numerous, famous or obscure, polymetallic ore deposits of Peru. A dramatic dense nest of hollow banded 2-color malachite stalactites with patches of small malachite botryoids have scattered small patches of royal-blue azurite. The highly sculptural piece resembles a bee hive! This striking and rare two-sided plate has beautiful turquoise-blue chrysocolla on the bottom. Mineral specimens, in general, are very rare from this less well-known polymetallic mine opened in 1948. Azurite and malachite are known from here, but certainly NOT in this form and combination quality. Valued at $750 for rarity and richness of the species from an unusual country for an azurite. A killer RARE Peru combination.
