Item Description
A dramatically impressive large azurite and malachite combination from the recent 2000s finds at this now famous Chinese mine. Four sculptural vugs in the sturdy and hefty banded botyroidal malachite and gossan matrix are lined with two generations of beautiful azurite crystals. Isolated, large, sharp, lozenge-shaped azurites, to 1.3 cm, are aesthetically scattered in the striking 7.0 cm wide vug lined with contrasting botryoidal malachite. The other three elongated vugs are fully lined with scintillating smaller midnight-blue azurite crystals. ALL of the crystals shine with electric-blue color under bright light. The artisitic form of this large piece and excellence of the azurite crystallization are particularly noteworthy. Azurites from here have been compared favorably with those from Bisbee. High praise, indeed! A very fine large example with multiple display views. 1434 grams or 3.1 pounds mass. Valued at $1250-1500.
