Item Description
Bisbee, Arizona is one of the great historic copper mining areas in the United States. The most recognizable secondary copper minerals from Bisbee are certainly Azurite and Malachite, some of which are among the top examples of this classic combo from anywhere in the world. Additionally, Bisbee has the distinction of producing some of the finest lapidary grade Azurite and Malachite extant. When polished, the beautiful blue and green hues, combined with the flowing, botryoidal and banded patterns makes for some truly impressive stones/slices/cabochons. Here we have 2-piece set of this classic material, which has been sawn and polished to show the beautiful rich blue and green colors within. One of the pieces is a fairly thin slice, while the other is actually a decent remaining specimen. It's not common to find a set like this where you have a single polished slice and the original piece from which it was cut. The total weight of both pieces is 216 grams.
Beautiful classic material, sought after by collectors, and certainly old, possibly over 100 years.
Valued $2,000.
Ex Dave Stoudt collection.
