Item Description
Touissit is one of the great Azurite localities on Earth. The top crystals from this area are incredibly sharp, highly lustrous, well-formed and show amazing internal gemminess, which is quite rare for the species worldwide. I don't think it's unrealistic to say that Touissit has produced more gem/gemmy Azurites than other famous Azurite localities like Tsumeb, Milpillas, Bisbee and Liufengshan. This piece is a superb example, featuring a group of prismatic crystals with incredibly lustrous faces and a very dark blue (nearly black) hue in reflected light, but when the group is backlit, it shows an electric indigo blue color inside. If you look closely, you can see the Azurite group is doubly-terminated, as there is a little termination than can be seen on the base of the piece, close to the matrix. No damage that I can find, and just top quality for the species. From the collection of Dave Michael.
