Item Description

ConcepciĆ³n del Oro is a famous mineral-producing area in Mexico, well-known for its copper minerals, including some impressive sulfides, excellent Scorodites and even some attractive specimens of Azurite. This full cabinet size specimen features fine quality, HIGHLY lustrous, intense blue colored thin prismatic crystals of Azurite associated with minor Malachite on oxidized matrix. I found one spot with tiny gem colorless Calcite rhombs coating the Azurites, which made for a very nice photo. The largest crystal measures about 5 mm, so they're not huge, but they are beautiful up close, and we've photographed them with a macro lens to better illustrate the quality. As you can see, the crystals are quite GEMMY when backlit, virtually transparent in some cases. Overall it's a very eye-catching showy display quality example of this seldom seen material.
