Azurite (GEMMY crystals - classic locality)

Item Description

Concepción del Oro is famous its copper minerals, including some impressive sulfides, excellent Scorodites and even some attractive specimens of Azurite. This small cabinet size specimen features fine quality, HIGHLY lustrous, intense blue colored thin prismatic crystals of Azurite associated with minor Malachite on matrix. The largest crystal measures about 6 mm, so they're not huge, but they are beautiful up close, and we've photographed them with a macro lens to better illustrate the quality. As you can see, the crystals are quite GEMMY when backlit, virtually transparent in some cases. Overall it's a very eye-catching example of this seldom seen material.
