Item Description

Morenci is one of the great copper-producing localities in Arizona, famous for its wonderful Azurite specimens. The best of these specimen are certainly in top ranks of some of the best examples of Azurite from anywhere in Arizona, which is really saying something, as there are hundreds of localities in the Grand Canyon State were the species has been reported. This toenail sized piece dates back to the 1980s and is a thick, "rose"-shaped group consisting of blocky, sharp, distinct, rich midnight blue color crystals of Azurite, free of matrix. There is a slightly reflective and almost "satiny" luster on the surface that looks beautiful when the piece is rotated in the light. The piece is crystallized on all sides, with no major damage that I can find, so I am calling this one a complete "floater". A great piece for any fan of secondary ore minerals, worldwide Azurite or minerals of Arizona.
