Item Description

Azurite is one of the most well-known secondary copper minerals in the world. It is widespread and superb specimens are simply breathtaking. There are a few localities that stand above the rest in terms of producing world-class Azurite crystals, and Tsumeb is certainly near, or in some people's opinions, atop the list for the quality of its Azurites. This piece is a lovely small miniature hosts a few superb quality, razor-sharp, lustrous, striated isolated crystals measuring to about 6 mm, sitting atop contrasting stark white Calcite matrix. The Azurites look beautiful under magnification, and with backlighting you can see that they show a bit of internal gemminess with a vibrant indigo blue color on the edges. Textbook crystals with superb form and color, and the white Calcite matrix is incredibly eye-catching.
From the collection of David Ziga, a geologist who graduated Miami (of Ohio) University in 2017, with a mineralogy background.
