Azurite (fine crystals) (ex Tom Campbell Collection)

Item Description

A showy toenail sized specimen of these classics from Ajo featuring several very sharp and notably lustrous crystals of Azurite measuring up to 9 mm associated with minor mint green Malachite on a dark (nearly black) layer of an unknown oxide / oxidized material on host rock matrix. The Azurites are in good condition, though you can see micro chipping in areas upon close inspection. I have the stress the high glossy luster of the crystals, as it's rare to see pieces like this on the market, especially these days. Also, it's important to note that good matrix display specimens of Azurite from the New Cornelia Mine are also fairly scarce these days. From the worldwide collection of Tom Campbell.
