Item Description
We will look back on the Milpillas "boom" as one of the great periods in modern mineral collecting. Some of the finest quality Azurite specimens ever found came out of this mine, and they made a huge splash on the market. We have been told that the oxidation zone at the mine is finished, and these Azurites may never be seen again. Here we have a lovely small cabinet display specimen of Azurite from this famous contemporary mine. This piece excellent quality, razor-sharp, incredibly lustrous, intense midnight blue color elongated crystals measuring up to 2.1 cm on a thin layer of matrix. Some crystals are slightly gemmy near the edges when backlit as you can see in the photos. The lower portion of the specimen is contacted where the piece was removed from the pocket wall, but virtually ALL of the crystals on the rest of specimen are pristine, save one tiny nick here or there. I love the quality, composition and arrangement on this one. If you missed out on these, don't pass up a chance to get a good quality specimen of this fast-disappearing material for a great price. The piece comes with a label from Wendel Minerals priced at € 3650 a little over $4000 with the current exchange rate).
