Item Description
An impressive and notably hard to find MATRIX example of Azurite from the Hanover #2 Mine in New Mexico. Nearly all of the specimens from this locality are loose "roses" off matrix, so to find a showy example with the crystals on matrix is a big deal. This miniature sized specimen hosts several "rose"-esque groups comprising rather sharp, well-formed, deep blue colored bladed crystals of Azurite, with the largest group measuring up to 1.5 cm on matrix. Minor accenting green Malachite can also be seen for a nice touch. No major damage on the front/display side of the piece, but there are some minor contacts on the back. A wonderful eye-catching example of this fairly elusive material. The piece was mined in 1997.
Ex Dave Stoudt collection, originally from the collection of Marty Lewadny.
