Item Description
Touissit was the source of some of the finest quality Azurite crystals in the world. The combination of incredibly sharp, lustrous crystals which are also GEMMY is rare in the mineral world, and Touissit produced a good number of them. This piece is a superb example, featuring a thin, prismatic crystal with incredibly lustrous faces and a very dark blue (nearly black) hue in reflected light, but when the crystal is backlit, it shows an electric indigo blue color inside. The piece is complete all around, save the base where it was removed from the pocket wall, and outside of a few tiny chips in a couple spots, it's essentially damage free. For all of the excellent Azurite crystals from places like Tsumeb, Milpillas, Bisbee and Liufengshan, very few of them were as lustrous and gemmy as those from Touissit. From the collection of Brian Kosnar.
