Azurite (excellent crystals for the locality)

Typically the Azurites from the Liufengshan Mine form in little blades or "roses", but to find isolated discreet / distinct crystals like this is RARE. There are four crystals on this specimen that are not only solitary, but they are remarkably sharp, highly lustrous and very well-formed. They have a deep blue color with a bit of an indigo translucence that can be seen on the edge when backlit. The largest crystal measures 9 mm, and they are all undamaged, even looking with a loupe. The matrix is massive dark reddish-brown Cuprite with some oxidized Goethite, and accenting mint-green Malachite can be seen sprinkled throughout. The pieces from the Liufengshan Mine have been around for about 20 years, and they remain some of the most beautiful and fine quality examples of Azurite with Malachite ever seen from any world locality. They have all the characteristics of the classic associations from Bisbee, Arizona with their intense midnight blue Azurite crystals and gorgeous velvety green Malachite associations. Sure, these are still contemporary pieces, but they surely will go down as true classics, as they are some of the most attractive representations of Azurite and Malachite out there.
