Item Description

Glistening, royal blue Azurite crystals are strewn on on a small piece of matrix dusted with contrasting brick-red Hematite for great contrast. The sparkling Azurites range in size from 1 to 5 mm with a small cluster in the center of the piece measuring a centimeter across and nearly a centimeter high. The gray matrix is also laced with thin veinlets of red Hematite for added contrast and aesthetics. The New Cornelia Mine at Ajo, Arizona was a large porphyry copper-gold deposit mined for decades until its closure in 1983 and produced a variety of mineral species during its history. Ex. Gary Weaver collection. HIGHLY unusual for this material, a USA classic.
