Azurite (ex Fred Pough Collection)

Item Description

A very hard to find, and fine quality crystallized thumbnail of rich royal blue Azurite from this somewhat obscure locality in Queensland. A stacked group of lustrous, blocky Azurite crystals in a "mountain"-like formation are associated with a bit of accenting green Malachite. No real damage from the display side, and good quality for the locality. The piece comes with a label from Phil Scalisi, and was originally in the collection of the great mineralogist and curator of physical geology and mineralogy at the American Museum of Natural History in New York, Dr. Frederick Pough.
