Item Description

Azurite from Tsumeb is one of the most classic, and highly sought after species of the hundreds found at this famous locality. This piece is a fine quality, sharp, lustrous, deep midnight blue crystal of Azurite free of matrix. The crystal is actually doubly-terminated, as there is a small but distinct termination on one end, though the entire end is not fully crystallized. The crystal has not altered to Malachite whatsoever, which is not terribly common for this material. A very attractive specimen, and a classic example of this famous material. Tsumeb specimens are rising in value by the minute it seems, and pieces like this are scooped up by collectors as quick as they are offered on the market. From the collection of Bob Trimingham, whose index card label states the piece was acquired from dealer Scott Williams, and was formerly in the collection of Jean Hamel.
