Azurite (doubly-terminated) (classic material)

There are hundreds of species that were found at the famed Tsumeb Mine, and the majority of them are the best (or very close to best) examples of their respective species ever found. From super-rare minerals to classics found around the world, Tsumeb stands as one of the greatest localities in the history of mineral collecting. The Azurites from this prestigious locale are among the top specimens of the species ever seen. This piece is a great example of said material as it features a beautiful, sharp, lustrous, doubly-terminated group of deep blue colored Azurite "swords" measuring 6.9 cm long, sitting beautifully on the underlying matrix. Additional Azurite crystals can be seen on the piece as well for a nice touch. When backlit, one end of the main Azurite group shows an electric indigo color internally, which is rare as most Azurite crystals are not even translucent, let alone gemmy like this! Overall the piece is in good shape, though there is one rough edge along the narrow end of the main group, so it's not completely pristine. Still a very attractive and showy display specimen of this classic material. Valued $1,500.
