Azurite crystals in massive azurite pocket

Item Description

Striking, lustrous, opposing clusters of parallel-growth tabular azurite crystals fill a sculptural 9.0 cm vug in the impressive, large specimen of solid azurite from an old find in China. The crystals reach 1.0 cm in length and are mostly a dark navy-blue with hints of lighter blue color and green malachite. The dramatically contrasting, surrounding, contacted azurite matrix is bright royal-blue. The uncommon specimen is from the copper mine at Changmenshan more known for coppers in today's era, and came out in the 1990s. Hefty solid copper ore at 1182 grams or pounds 2.6 mass. Ex Chet Lemanski Collection No. 18480Cl and acquired in 2001. Rich, showy and uncommon older azurite from the less well-known locale. Really dramatic in person.
