Item Description
A beautiful old classic specimen from Bisbee of blue semi-botryoidal Azurite with minor Malachite on a little bit of oxidized matrix. The Azurite ranges from a softer medium blue to a stark midnight color in areas and the luster goes from matte to shimmering depending upon where you view the piece. Some of the most iconic Azurite in the world came from Bisbee, Arizona, and this old specimen is a good example of said material. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#2689) with a note on the label that states it was from the collection of the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County by way of the Marion Godshaw Collection. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
