Bisbee is one the premier secondary ore deposits in the United States. The number of great quality and iconic specimens to come out of this area is a big part of why Bisbee in the highest tier of localities for many collectors. This piece is a wonderful near large cabinet sized display specimen featuring gorgeous botryoidal Azurite aggregates, ranging from light to medium to midnight blue colors, sitting on matrix. Upon close inspection, you can see the Azurite was deposit in multiple generations, as there are tiny "rosettes" sitting atop the larger "balls", which themselves formed in layers, creating a multi-colored banding pattern (best seen around the periphery of the specimen. We've done our best to illustrate the different styles and colors in the photos, but this isn't really the kind of specimen you look at closely, it's meant to be on display in a case, and will grab the attention of anybody who is familiar with Bisbee material for its size, quality and beauty. Azurites like this from Bisbee are certainly hard to find on the market these days, and the scarcity of the material has caused the value to increase in recent years, so if you collect Copper minerals or secondary ore specimens, worldwide Azurites or you just love Bisbee material, this is a good big display specimen to add to your collection for a bargain price.
