Item Description
Azurite is perhaps the most famous Tsumeb mineral species and this is an adorable, aesthetic small cabinet piece. A slightly divergent cluster of prismatic, lustrous, deep blue Azurite crystals to 4 cm in length is set on an orange to green to yellowish, variegated matrix. At least a half dozen, super lustrous, well-formed Azurite crystals dominate the display face and together, with all of their crystal faces, look like blue steps leading up to the top two, taller crystals. Pinpoints of neon blue can be seen when the specimen is backlit. Excellent for the size, with a style that makes it stand out. This came in a large group of minerals purchased in the 1990s, from the collection of Friedrich Wilhelm Kegel (?-1948), Director of mining operations at Tsumeb. An interesting miniature with old style!
