Splendent, sharp, midnight-blue, azurite crystals with rich zones of stunning "electric-blue" gemminess richly and attractively line a vug surrounded by malachite pseudos after azurite. Some of the malachite is amazingly chatoyant, while other is the velvet variety. The azurites and pseudos in the vug are essentially pristine. The periphery is noted, but is certainly acceptable in the context of this very showy piece. The smelter is converting to sulfide ore soon, indicating the oxide zone is about mined out. No more superb azurites and malachites will be forthcoming. Get a highly representative example of this varietal while you can!
