Azurite and Malachite on marble (rare locality specimen)

Here we have a rarely seen Azurite/Malachite specimen from the Christiana Mine No. 132 in the historic mining district of Lavrion, Greece. The piece is a hard to find locality specimen, featuring a slab of marble that has been sliced and polished, revealing attractive medium blue Azurite along with soft green Malachite spots. If you turn the piece over, there are interesting dendritic formations on the surface as well, which is certainly not commonly seen from Lavrion. We've only had one other specimen from this mine that features marble matrix like this that I can remember. We purchased the specimen directly from a friend in Greece, who personally collected it at the mine site, and sliced and polished it. If you collect secondary ore minerals, specimens from Lavrion or interesting colorful pieces, don't miss out on this one.
