Azurite and Malachite (old classic material)

Some of the most iconic specimens of Azurite and Malachite are those from Bisbee. This world-famous mining town was the source of many incredibly valuable, beautiful and beloved pieces of this classic combination. Many of the pieces from Bisbee were not necessarily specimen grade, but they were top notch candidates for lapidary uses. This piece is a fantastic example of said material featuring gorgeous, soft mint green colored, almost "plumose"-esque formations of Malachite which are set against a rich midnight blue Azurite background. There is also a very pale blue colored mineral on the piece (possibly Chalcoalumite?) for a nice addition of color. The piece is polished on all side and sawn flat on the bottom so it sits nicely on its own. The eye-catching Malachite forms show classic banding, with varying intensities of green in different areas. One doesn't honestly see a lot of Bisbee gems / polished stones on the market, and this one is certainly worth picking up if you collect material from the United States, as it's large and colorful! The piece weighs 201.8 grams, and was priced at $4,000 in the inventory for the size, quality and the fact that it's from arguably the most famous and celebrated locality in the history of Arizona mining.
