Item Description
A stunning two-sided Jekyll-and-Hyde combination specimen featuring the classic Tsumeb malachite replacement of azurite...but only on one side! Aesthetic, with stunning luster and intense blue on one side, and intense velvety malachite on the other side so that they look like entirely different specimens when rotated 180 degrees around. Nearly pristine, 6 cm tall, and displayworthy, this is an old style from the 1970s and before. A label from the late great dealer Luis Leite (after whom Leiteite is named), seemingly from the 1980s, accompanies. Tsumeb azurites were historically the best , and had a high value. Mexico produced a flood of azurites in the years 2007-2017 but, nothing like this. Despite as many azurites as came out of Mexico, NONE look like this , and the rarer Tsumeb styles have held value and desirability throughout. We valued this at $2500 at least.
