Item Description

Sharp and very 3-dimensional, this is a very choice cluster of three Azurite crystals, two of which are quite large for the locality. The main crystal is 5 x 4.5 cm and doubly-terminated. Note how the faces of the crystals have begun to pseudomorph to Malachite, creating alluring fields of green afloat within the lustrous, shimmering (and I mean shimmering) deep blue sea! The cluster is contacted along the back, but the presentation side is first-rate. These are NOT the typical slender crystals, but rather a more rare and robust style that could EASILY be confused for a Tsumeb specimen from the famous Perkin Sams pocket (which would be valued higher for that reason). Only a few distinct brown swatches of matrix attached to the back, identify this as Moroccan instead of Tsumeb material. Azurite and malachite specimens from Touissit are worldwide classics and this is a fine and aesthetic small cabinet of unusual style for this locality. Ex. Herb Obodda Collection.
