Item Description

Attractive and delicate, this Azurite and Malachite specimen is from the famous locality of Kerrouchene, in Morocco, and is all the more unusual in that it is a matrix specimen. The violet-blue Azurites are needle-like to tabular, with lusters that range from good to satiny. The translucence is so good that the crystals take little coaxing to glow with the enticing azure-blue that many Moroccan Azurites are known for. Several of the Azurites have begun the transition to mint-green Malachite, creating the quintessential combination that we have come to know and love. Twinning in Azurite is rare, and at Kerrouchene twins tend to be crossed. The large, central pair of Azurites, to about 1.9 cm, has the look of a rare twin, and it is framed nicely by the the Malachite spires. Such delicate and engaging aesthetics make this a choice, small-cabinet specimen for the locality.
