Item Description

A lovely historic Azurit especimen from one of the most classic localities in all of Europe - (and the type locality for Azurite)! Typically the Azurite specimens from Chessy are found in less than desirable crystals, but this piece is a group of sharp, very well defined, midnight blue, blocky Azurite crystals. The largest crystal measures 6 mm. The crystal faces have good luster, and are amazingly smooth for the age of the specimen. It is very difficult for collectors to obtain fine quality specimens of this material today, and the fact that this piece hosts multiple crystals makes even more desirable. This specimen was mined in the early 1800s, so it's nearly 200 years old! A great specimen for any collector, a collector of European classics, or anyone who appreciates Azurite.
