Item Description

A classic specimen of the famous Azurite "suns" from the Malbunka Copper Mine. These specimens are well known for their interesting form and habit. This piece features semi-layered, rich azure blue colored, compressed "rosette" of Azurite on kaolinite siltstone matrix. The Azurite suns form between layers of kaolinite. The aggregate was forced to grow in a laterally compressed, radiating manner. I don't think there is another Azurite locality in the world produces them quite like this.
