Item Description

Sharp, highly lustrous, midnight-blue to black azurite crystals and smaller azurites of another generation are aesthetically scattered on the sculptural sawed small cabinet porphyry matrix. The multiple faces and sharp edges on the large crystals have striking facet-like form. The large upright crystal is 1.6 cm tall and both flay-lying doubly terminated crystals are 1.7 cm long. The larger prisms have areas of electric-blue color under bright and the smaller crystals really GLOW with electric-blue color under bright light. The matrix is coated with manganese oxides, typical of specimens from the 2018 Facet Pocket. See the fine 2018 Milpillas Mine article in Mexico Special Issue IX, Vol. 52, No. 5.
