Azurite

Here we have a beautiful Azurite specimen from Lavrion, Greece, one of the most historic world localities. There is proof that mining has taken place for thousands of years in this area, and the plethora of secondary minerals found around Lavrion make it incredibly distinctive and well-known among collectors. This miniature is a showy and fine quality specimen featuring attractive, very lustrous crystal groups (almost "rose"-esque in their form") with a saturated yet almost glowing blue color in good lighting. The largest Azurite group measures 6 mm across. No major damage, and the piece is largely crystallized all over.
The piece was mined in 2012 and comes from the collection of Christos Spiromitros.
