Item Description
This well-trimmed matrix hosts an upright, VERY BLUE azurite crystal measuring 6.3 x 3 x 1.3 cm in size, leaping up. It has a true azure blue color, not dark verging on black as so many azurites possess. Azurite from Tsumeb often alters into Malachite, most as total pseudomorphs. Partial replacements like this are more uncommon than full alterations, and in most partials it seems as if the core of the body is what alters, leaving blue only at the edges in many cases. Unusually, this piece has some alteration to malachite at the base and the tip of the termination, but the body core is solid and true blue. The crystal has a slight contact on the left-termination, out of sight to the rear, and a slight contact on the very leftmost edge, also at the very rear as displayed. The front view, and the front-facing termination, are pristine. For a large upright crystal, its hard to get such condition at an affordable price. We value this at $2500.
