Item Description
Despite the amount of secondary copper minerals in the Haut-Katanga Province of DR Congo, Azurite specimens are rather rare. The Kimbwe Mine is probably the best-known locality for Azurite in the entire country. This piece is a beautiful "rose"-esque group comprising sharp, stark blue colored bladed crystals, free of matrix. The piece is largely crystallized all around, with no major damage, and the rich color and decent luster (some pieces can have dull coatings on the surface) make it all the more desirable. If you collect worldwide Azurites, a nice Kimbwe specimens is almost certainly a must-have.
From the worldwide mineral collection of geologist, Demetrius Pohl (#1824).
