An important azurite specimen from one of the world's most famous azurite locales, often forgotten by modern collectors because nothing truly great has come out since the 1990s or before. In fact, the heyday here for azurite was the 1970s-1980s and this is of that vintage, with a stunning 8-cm long doubly terminated crystal in a cluster! It has a luster, style, and look to it that, taken together, remains unique in the azurite world and is not superseded by the flood of azurite coming out of Mexico in 2007-2017 from Milpillas. That fact, makes this stand the test of time. Azurites that look like Mexico and come from Africa are doomed in the market to be less desirable, compared to pieces with unique style that are unmatched by the Mexican material. In its day, this was easily a five figure specimen, and remains so. It has such a perfect balance, such razor sharp form!
