Azurite

Striking, probably old-time (certainly prior to 1960s), Azurite specimen from the renowned Tsumeb Mine, whose suite of azurite and in fact all copper minerals is just wide and superlative. These classic Azurites, deep-blue and highly lustrous, have complex faces that are ridged and striated. The visual details are a marvel to behold, and making it even more visually provocative is the highly unusual geometry. The two main crystals intersect and pair together beautifully, and the attached pieces of brecciated country rock frame the Azurites in a way not often seen. And if that wasn't enough for sheer aesthetics, the largest crystal is 5.2 cm and DOUBLY-TERMINATED. The sheer size of that Azurite also brings up the point that, as measured, this specimen is a very large miniature. But, depending on orientation, this could conceivably nudge up into the small-cabinet range. Either way, this is an exceptional Azurite that well-represents one of Tsumeb's true 'Holy Grail' species. Even better in person. Crystals of such luster and sharpness of this style should be highly valued. This is also not a style replicated in modern times by either later Tsumeb or Mexican material.
