Item Description
Azurite is perhaps the most famous Tsumeb mineral species, and this is an attractive spray of over two dozen, long prismatic crystals. The deep royal-blue Azurites form spear-point terminated, bladed prismatic crystals that are in both parallel and divergent growth making up an attractive spray on pale greenish matrix. The Azurite crystals range in size from 1 to 2.5 cm and the ones comprising the main spray are stacked up forming aggregates up to 5 cm. They display a satin luster on the prism faces and a brighter luster on the terminations. Nicely balanced and sits well on its own for display. This seems like older material from the 1960s, although it could be earlier or later.
