While Milpillas has produced the most azurite in modern times, this is now done and done, with specimens mostly in collections at this point. Each find was different, over the life of the mine for production (approx ten years), and so there are many styles of material here. This is recognizable. This is a gorgeous specimen of solid azurite from the famous "Watercourse Zone" found at the very end of a brief mining window of azurite from this most productive of modern Mexican locales (starting around 2014, if memory serves)....now largely extinct for fine minerals. At the time, they were mining through a rich zone with pockets, and now they are in a solid chalcocite orebody, with little hope of finding more azurite. An interesting 'hole' that lets light through, formed in the creation of this thin plate composed of striking deep blue azurite with electric blue highlights. Large crystals enhance the striking piece, and it is nearly pristine. Valued $5000.
