Azurite

Here is an exquisite, rather large rosette-like spray of lustrous, royal-blue Azurite crystals associated with just a bit of matrix from the famous mines at Touissit-Bou Bekker, Morocco. This is a very attractive, three-dimensional cluster of vibrantly colored, 1 to 1.5 cm long bladed prismatic Azurite crystals nicely composed in a divergent aggregate. They all emanate from a roughly central point on the bit of tan matrix on the base of the piece and amazingly, almost all are intact (just a few broken points amidst the mass, are hard to spot unless up close). The lightly striated Azurite crystals all have bright, spearpoint terminations resulting in an overall, mesmerizing scintillating effect. It is a choice Moroccan Azurite small cabinet piece with great presentation and balance! From 1980s finds. The Pohl collection was especially strong in African minerals, and she loved Morocco and Namibia in particular.
